Frank points out a sale at the store. Quin reminds him that he never uses anything he buys from these sales.
Frank uses the item he finds to show otherwise. Gromlee, watching from afar, notes to Pip the flaw in Frank's logic.

Quin asks Frank if they can go to the new book store. Frank says he can't find it and they go to the mall instead.
Quin reminded Frank that he said he had navigation. He said he did, and pulled out a map from 1968.
Gromlee tells Pip that he hopes Frank uses that map when he takes him to the vet.

Gromlee's log: I hope he leaves that map laying around the living room. I finished shredding the newspaper and I need a new activity.

It's Purple

Frank tells Quin he thinks someone's hair he spots at the mall is lavendar. Quin says she thinks it's violet.
The person in question surprising them by telling them the color is purple. Gromlee comments from afar that they really should stop watching people since it's rude.

Frank purchases a magazine at a book store. Frank walks in the mall with the magazine.
Frank approaches Brook Throne, a specialty retailer. Frank reads his magazine in a comfy massage chair on display.
Frank goes back to the book store and asks for a receipt. Gromlee wonders aloud to Pip asking if Frank also does this with tooth brushes.

Gromlee's log: I discovered a potential new way of getting wrapping paper for free. I just have to figure out how to roll it up to had the claw marks when I take it back.

Gromlee watches for the newspaper from across the street. Gromlee, under Pip's scrutiny, makes a few changes to the newspaper.
And now, they're all having pizza at the mall.

Gromlee's log: I noticed Frank will believe most of what he reads in the paper. When I showed Pip what a few changes to the newspaper can lead to, he was left speechless (as usual).

Quin asks to go to the mall. Frank says he's glad she's being more social.
To Frank's surprise, she just wanted to go pick up a book. Gromlee watches from afar and says that actually is very social, at least for Quin.

From Gromlee's journal: Quin asked to go to the mall. This is very abnormal behavior for her, but in a good way. I spent my time at the pet store looking at the fish.

Frank and Quin are finishing up their meals. Frank's choice of payment seems not to sit well with Quin.
Frank's choice of tip makes Quin feel even worse. Gromlee watches the exchange and realizes he won't get far in an arcade with Frank.

It's funny that there are so many different ways to pay but one of the cheapest methods beyond cash is also one that causes embarassment among some.

The Want Book

Gromlee watches across the street as the mail man delivers the mail. Frank discovers the mailbox has been opened with letters on the ground.
Gromlee is reading the Want Book, a sales catalog from Years Department store. Gromlee has pinned a number of pages from the Want Book with one page identified for Pip.

Up until the early years of the Internet, a number of national chain stores would send out special sales catalogs with Sears' The Wish Book being the most popular one. Believe it or not, the arrival of these catalogs were exciting events for kids at the time.

Staying In Touch

Frank asks Quin why the phone bill is so high. Quin says it's not her since she only texts.
We see at an earlier point Gromlee making a phone call. Gromlee tells Pip that others in London and Tokyo always have a different time.
The microwave clock is blinking 12:00 since it hasn't been set.

Frank is trying to figure out why the phone bill is so high. All Gromlee is worried about is why everybody has the wrong time.

Frank and Quin are in front of a specialty store in the mall. Franks tells Quin he's just going to sit and read the newspaper while she shops.
Quin is embarassed by where Frank chooses to sit. Gromlee tells Pip that Frank shouldn't be let to go to certain stores.

Can you blame Frank for choosing such a comfy chair?

Emergency Contact

Frank reaches to answer the phone. Quins asks Frank not to answer it.
Quin holds up a smart phone explaining that she's waiting on her friends to text her. Gromlee tells Pip to not add Quin as an emergency contact.

There was a time when texting was non-existent. But for many people born after a certain time, it seems almost foreign to actually talk over the phone.

Gromlee watches the paperboy deliver the newspaper. Gromlee makes some alterations to the newspaper.
Frank reads that it's bring your cat to the mall day. Quin mentions with some puzzlement that it's the tenth day in a row.

Gromlee obviously loves the mall and he hatches a plan to get Frank to take him. But Quin is noticing a funny pattern. It seems the old saying is true--you can't always believe what you read in the paper.

Frank says they should go to Burger President (definitely not Burger King). Frank orders for Quin to her obvious embarassment.
Gromlee watches from a distance and thinks he can benefit from the situation. The Vice President Action Figure that comes with the Vice President Meal.

Frank convinces Quin to go to a restaurant they haven't gone in years. She immediately regrets it. But it seems sometimes we forget that people's tastes can change over time. Regardless, who wouldn't want the Vice President Meal?

Quin is interrupted from reading a magazine with a surprise gift. The gift isn't something she expected or even seems to find useful. Gromlee, watching from afar, asks Pip to make sure a certain rule about gifts for him is implemented to ensure he has access to an alternative gift if needed.
